Got it sorted after an entire day of fucking around, had to dl some dodgy looking apks and follow a pretty convoluted YouTube vid but got there eventually. Never would have thought it'd be such a fuck about to just enter my own details ffs

On another note my autocorrect has been absolutely shitting the bed recently, changing completely normal words into very esoteric ones that make no sense in the context and giving me 🤷 when I type out normal words such as 'unironically'

What's the best EPUB ebook reader for Android?
-
• #22330
If it were me I'd use Kindle and email stuff to the kindle account via Calibre so the format didn't matter (and so that Amazon can store it all for you and it syncs across devices).
Maybe overcomplicated though

I have MOBI, epub and PDF files on the device and just want to read those. I could try Kindle app but they restricted something recently right? Can Kindle read files in other folders?
-
• #22332
Looks like Kindle only sees PDFs not MOBI or epub.

Just to tidy up a loose end.
Back in the Summer my 'good enough' Motorola G5G went for a swim in the River Pinn.
It was submerged for at least 45 minutes. The camera module showed condensation/water.
Took it home, pulled out the sim card tray and left it on the top shelf of a unit
in the conservatory, charging port/speaker port/headphone jack upwards,
to let it slowly dry out.
Last night, I remembered it was still up on the top shelf.
Nothing to lose, popped the usb-C charging cable into the port,
and,
.....
the screen indicated 47% charge.
Fumbled with the buttons to switch it on.
Took a few seconds for it to start the powering up process,
but soon it was telling me it had no Sim card,
and,
that I wasn't logged in various services.
It charged up to (an indicated) 100%, (much quicker than its Pixel 6a replacement).
Popped the (micro?) sim card from the non-functional back up mobile and the Motorola
seems happier. It is also 'reading' the photos on the micro sd card.Just can't currently find the enhanced-grip case it came with.

I think it also does PDFs. I use Calibre (on desktop) to convert to whatever format it needs (which I think is epub now) and then email it to my Kindle account.
There must be some decent, all-purpose reader apps out there but I couldn't find one.

Thanks. Maybe I'll have a look at doing this but Kindle loaded the PDF versions so that'll do for now I guess. I'm not even logged into my Kindle app since getting the 6A so Nicholas Nickleby will have to wait until I can remember my login details.

Asked in photo thread but no answer, trying here:
Anyone here use a macro attachment? My sister wants one for Xmas for iPhone but all web searches are just giving spammy links or amazon.
I have raspberry pi one from pihut but think she's after better quality than that.

Have no hands on experience but have Moment in my bookmarks, likely nice but pricey and maybe hard to get here...

Pixel 6a here: anyone else get a 'Camera update available' notification today?
74MB
Looks like the '0.6' (slight) wide angle is the default rather than the previously indicated '0.7'. -

After a bit of input for a new (2nd hand) Android phone.. Currently have a Xiaomi Mi11 256gb which I've smashed the screen on.. Phone has been fine for 18 months, but it's massive.. so looking for a suitable replacement.. Probably about £350 2nd hand.. open to suggestions?? Must be 256gb or else have a micro SD slot.. decent camera... Samsung S20 FE or S20 5G any use? or are there better alternatives??

Is the 6a's battery life as bad as the reviews make out?

Fuck it, ordered a refurb Pixel 6 Pro

Late to the party but I use my Pixel 6a a lot. It lasts as a satnav in the car for a 4 hours journey and still has 40% left. Just daily heavy use it normally gets me through a full day.. it's stuck to me though 😂. Normal folks would probably get over a day.

Thanks, ordered one for ms_com today so that's good to know.

Is the Pixel 6 too big?
Weighing up this deal on a Pixel 6 vs a 6a.

On balance the 6 seems like the better phone. -

I ended up getting the Pixel 7, vodafone were doing it for £6 a month extra than what I currently pay.. then also you can claim a Fitbit Versa 4 back.. so a bit of a no brainer..
