  • Half of the Christmas order has arrived, 2 more kegs from Siren on the way. Trick is to not drink it all before guests arrive, I guess. Not that we have that many guests coming, and most of the ones that are coming aren’t beer drinkers lol.

  • last one gone now :'(

  • I have picked up a banger of a beer for Christmas. Little 17% imperial stout.

Russian Imperial Stout, 15 different malts, English hops. With hazelnut flavour.

  • I am raiding the stash this year.
Will I finally pop the cap off the 2008 Fullers Vintage Ale? 14 years of it sitting in a cupboard...
(have a few more recent bottlings too)

  • That is some serious restraint!

  • Nice, hope it's worth the wait. Look forward to the review.

  • I can’t find any Belgian Christmas beers in beer cave or Clapton craft.
    I’m losing my mind.

  • Christmas begins!

  • I started the festive period last night with this. Present wrapping standards went downhill rapidly.

    WANDER BEYOND BREWING
    Cellar Series
    Vulpes Vintage 2021
    Imperial Stout
    Alc 15.0% Vol

  • Bit late now but Jay's Budgens in Croften Park has a good selection.

  • Festive intent from the stash
    2007 Fuller's followed by a 2022 Fuller's.
Innis & Gunn Rye barrel aged beer and a Vanishing Point imperial

If I get all 4 done today, reckon I'll sleep well tonight...

  • What was the 2007 like?

  • Didn't get round to it yesterday, but am on it now

Strong malt on the nose and initial flavour, quickly turns into a strong licorice after taste.

I don't have notes from 2007, but I do remember it being malty, but not as licorice as it is now.
Also easier to drink after 15 years conditioning in the bottle (either it's mellowed or I am used to punchier beers now)

  • Duchesse de Bourgogne - odd, but compelling.

  • I know I shouldn't have been surprised by the price of that but I still was when I saw one earlier in Blackheath

  • Think I paid £15. Get a discount at Water into Beer on homebrew club day.

  • Had a few beers from left handed giant this evening, pretty good, will buy again. Mental note to drop into their pub next time I’m in Bristol.

Sank a keg of two by two’s session IPA yesterday with friends, also really good. Summer flavours bringing a bit of winter cheer. Looking forward to getting into the keg pale ale to bring in the new year.

  • Enjoying the December sun!
