tbh I’m mostly wishing him eternal torment for the child rape business. The fact that he was also a judgey cunt over all aspects of the lives and decisions of others when he willingly stuck his hand up to join the Nazis does somewhat compound things.

There's innumerable things to dislike the old dead cunt for (the child abuse / covering up, the misogynist stances on bodily autonomy & birth control, the homo- and other-phobia, the destruction of Alderan etc...), but

It looks as though he was 17 when conscripted to the army, and membership of the Hitler youth was all but mandatory for all boys (according to wikepdai, so obvs pinch of salt outwith any other validation).

I find it pretty hard to judge people for those decisions tbh. Without living in those times and being in their shoes, I don't know how much of an appetite for prison or being shot in the head I would have had. Maybe I'm a coward, but I think it's pretty easy to say "I wouldn't have joined" from 2022 Europe. Wasn't his disabled cousin taken from the family and executed?
I spent some time talking to a friend's grandfather who remembers the war in Austria. He answered his conscription off the back of 300 Russian PoWs being shot in the head in his home town. That's going to affect your decision making.
