  • Next question: does anyone want to sell me a Switch? OLED version preferred but not toooo fussed!

  • I'm not usually a JRPG person but have been completely consumed with Persona 5 Royal and have been playing every chance I get. Maybe because it's so stylish? In contrast I bought Ni No Kuni ages ago and only put a few hours in; it's a beautiful game in that it has Ghibli involvement but P5R just blends everything together so well with its aesthetic - the menus, the battle options etc.

  • Not necessarily simple, but Celeste is a truly amazing platformer.

  • Are the Ori games on switch?

  • They are, both really great platformers, simply but challenging with beautiful graphics, good controls (on Xbox at least) and a nice little story.

  • I reckon Will of the Wisps is worth getting alone if buying both is too pricey - stands alone pretty well and is an upgrade in quite a few areas (both feel great in terms of platforming but the sequel sorts out combat which was a bit of a weak spot in Blind Forest, plus more useful NPCs). Also it made me cry quite a lot!

  • Mario odyssey is brilliant.
    Simple and excellent.

  • Also it made me cry quite a lot!

    They both had their moments.

  • I bought Civ6, hated the look of it and went back to Civ5 after 20 minutes.

  • So I've just picked up a Nintendo Switch. I'm a bit clueless with them.

Are there any cheats/tricks for getting the online membership cheaper? Like the xbox turkey vpn sort of thing?
I can get a download code on cdkeys for £12.79 for 12 months.
Is there a trick to get the expansion pack cheaper?

Interested if anyone has any games for sale too. Players are an 8 year old girl and a 37 year old man...

  • They are currently both on big sale on the Nintendo new years deal.
Also loads and loads of other things.

I might be about to spend loads on games that will be sat in the queue to be played...

  • I have quite a few games I have my eye on but I'm determined to actually play some of the games in my queue! Have Dark Souls to properly try after Persona 5, plus OlliOlli World and Thimbleweed Park that I got and barely played earlier in the year.

  • Thimbleweed Park

To be fair, you could probably get through it in a single sitting of a few hours. I very much enjoyed it. If you're looking for more of the same (but maybe a little more simple), check out the Darkside Detective games. Similar mystery/point & click mechanics with heavy Twin Peaks vibes with a decent helping of comedy.

  • So, I dug the Xbone out of the attic it's been in for about 5 years and it seems to be powering up, but won't eject whatever is in it. Are there repairers out there, and is it worth using them? I'm not looking to do too much - partner is going away for a week in Feb, and I fancy reacquainting myself with a few games in the evenings.

(inevitably, by Easter I'll be 250 hours into another Skyrim playthrough...)

  • There should be a manual release button somewhere, like a little button in a hole. What model xbox is it?

  • Can't find a manual release button on it. It's a very old model, probably 2014.

  • Anyone play iOS games with a controller? There are ports of some formative games for me - Marathon FPS trilogy - which is just frustrating to try and play with on-screen iPad controls.

This looks pretty well reviewed, if Amazon reviews can be at all trusted: 8Bitdo SN30 Pro (G Classic Edition) Bluetooth Game Pad https://amzn.eu/d/31KdXew

Just wanting to find more games to justify it. Probably be keen to give San Andreas another spin.

  • Bought a bunch of super recent games yesterday: witcher 3 and shadow of the tomb raider.

I'm going to start replying to posts in this thread from 7 years ago.

  • Finished Stray. Was a little disappointed there's nothing else to it. May play it again with a different coloured cat.

  • When I played San Andreas on my Mac a while ago (over ten years I think) the steam version didn’t support controller if I remember correctly. May have changed now with updated versions or the iPad edition.

  • Not on Mac, but remember playing it on Windows via Steam using a 360 controller.

Fairly sure I also used a PS3/4 controller via bluetooth on Android, but that was a long time ago so can't quite be sure on that one!

  • I have a similar one to that and the 8Bitdo stuff is generally decent. I find it a bit slim for extended use though and prefer an Xbox controller over Bluetooth.

  • Thanks. I’m a dummy - I never thought to see if I can connect a Playstation controller, which I can and it works great!

Only thing now is that it doesn’t seem that there is a setting to invert the Y axis on the Marathon game I’m playing 😩

Edit: figured it out - long winded general setting profile creation. This afternoon is going to be awesome.

  • I just finished Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I thought it was really good!
