  • Five hands seems excessive. I soldered up a broken Xmas toy yesterday, two hands was enough. Good lighting and magnification are important too, but they can be separate units.

  • I agree with @moocher, I do quite a bit of PCB soldering at work and have never used one of those. A decent light and a microscope is all I have ever needed.

  • Depends a bit on what you're working on, but for circuit boards I think I'd start with a silicone solder mat which stops the board from sliding around.
