  • The really trick bit is going to be integrating the chimney into the roof. I’m going to have to cut into one or the other. The most accurate way is to cut the roof, with a wood hole cutter, and the roof held in a frame so it’s the right angle. Ideally I need a pillar drill and wooden blocks. Cutting the (much larger and numerically less) chimney sections would be the other option. Seems easier but it relies on prescribing the right curve around and up the pieces. Not looking forward to that, to be honest.

  • Got this delivered on release in June last year. Finally got around to finishing / hanging it.

  • Next stage completed. We have a boiler house and basic motion which will need revising for more authenticity and the addition of a hidden motor.

  • FWIW, I saw the Jeep in Tesco at £30 for Clubcard members. Didn't need a second one so I had to get the Batmobile 🦇, down to £72 with Clubcard

  • The biggest kit I have seen, a lighting kit is coming next year.
Looks very difficult as all the pieces are so similar and one colour.

  • I watched a yt vid of an Lego influencer assembling it. Apparently the most tedious set they’ve built.

I crashed my bike last weekend so bought this to cheer myself up. Aside from with my nephew I’ve not built a Lego set in over 20yrs. Was fun.

  • Yours for just £550.

  • It's crazy. Then wtf do you do with a 5ft Eiffel Tower once you've built it? Bang it on your coffee table??

  • Build a perfectly scaled Paris around it?

  • Christmas tree for the front window?

  • Lego Star Wars advent calendar. 4 days in.

  • Might have got mesell a Brick Zone 917 fo crimbo hols...

Did not realize it is Chinese import (Like my Panigale) took 10 days to arrive.

Also you have to download the instructions and stickers ffs.

    Will report back.

  • I discovered the answer to "am I to old to have a Lego advent calendar" this year.

Fair to say I had no hesitations when I was given it. Got a few days worth saved up for working from home today.

Went to the BCN Lego store last month for first time, and we picked up the festive penguin (40498) for the seasonal decorations, it wasn't even my idea. Nice little build.

  • I’m on my first Lego advent calendar (at 50) picked it up half price a couple of days into December.
Recently got into Guardians of the galaxy, so this is perfect! Looking forward to the third one next year.

  • Nice!
I can understand the environmental argument and the extra weight/cost of shipping for not including the instructions but no stickers is a bit of a cheap move, not easy to make them satisfactorily at home.

  • The build progresses. Removable end wall added to better view the inner workings.
The (holed) base of the building will be hidden by a raised ‘rough ground’ effect covering of plates and bricks.
I am going to have to cover the chimney in suitably decorated paper to mimic the stonework of the main building and some paint is going to be needed for doors, wheel barrow and boiler room details to cover the garish tones of the parts that couldn’t be sourced in the right colour.

  • ….Still have to add aforementioned rough ground, sparse vegetation, inside pipe work and valve gear, tramway tracks and hidden motor.
This is the inside of the (unfinished) boiler room:
