OK well I'm glad to be of some help, but not quite sure if you're really set on Campag for a 36 hole hub, or perhaps would consider other brands from perhaps the 60s or thereabouts. If you would, then I might have something for you, although most likely it will be a fixed/freewheel hub, not the pure track one. As for your axle question, I was aware that front wheel gran sport hub axles were narrower but not sure about the rear hubs. I actually pulled out a set of Gnutti hubs where I measured the axle width and it came up around a millimeter narrower than a standard/modern front wheel axle. The rear one was the standard 10mm. BTW you might be interested to know that it was actually Fratelli Brivio (branded as FB) who made the Gran Sport hubs, rebranding some of them as Campag hubs. They actually did this for the above Gnutti hubs too. I think that Campag made the axles and races/cones though, as these are always Campag branded, so possibly was a joint effort of the two companies. So if you're dead set on having the Gran Sport hub design, you could increase your chances of finding one by searching for Gnutti, FB (they look exactly the same besides the logos) and possibly also specifying fixed/freewheel hubs instead of just the purist one sided track hubs. Also, the 10mm axle I measured above was a quick release hollow axle- proper track axles are always solid, so perhaps these ones are actually the narrower diameter you're thinking of?
