Thank you these are some really good points! Makes sense re the spokes and that will likely be a case of finding a 40hole hub.
Have been having a think and also curious about the size of the drop outs on the frame as it’s built in the 60’s, but think that some of the GS axles would not be 10mm diameter and have the narrower axles.
Will have a look on the frame when it arrives, do you happen to know if the narrower 50’s axles can be used on later drop outs for 10mm axles by any chance please?Thanks

I'm sure I have one of the hubs but built up as a wheel, plus from memory I reckon it will be laced to a 40 hole rim, not 36 hole like you're after. Actually I feel that most of these 50's hubs will be 40 hole as this was very popular in that era, so you might have difficulty finding the 36 hole although I'm sure they exist. And especially with the later Campag stuff there were more 36 hole ones.
