The Toyota RAV4 plug in hybrid I have on order that was supposed to be available in April 23 (ordered in May this year) has slipped to Nov 23 due to a facelift change.
My current car goes back in June 23.
Any plug in hybrids/electrics worth considering with short delivery times?
Model 3s and Ys are readily available but considerably more in lease cost than that which i have on the Toyota (ordered before the last 2 price increases)Or so I keep the order and bridge the gap between June and Nov with something temporary?

That’s not many over a period of about 9 years.
As a comparison VW sell about 60,000 Golfs per year. So roughly 30 times as many.

Could look at short term leasing. I’ve used on.to in the past which get you monthly rolling leases. There’s a pick up and drop of charge now and lower mileage limits so it’s not as great as it once was, but perhaps worth a look for a few months

Second hand? We bought a 2020 kia niro plug in hybrid and no complaints so far.
A bit of effort to sell it later but they're keeping their prices now. -

sure the range might not be great, but do most people really need to drive 200 odd miles in one go that often?
the data would suggest not.

I'd imagine very few people need to do it often but a reasonable number need to do it a few times a year and if they can't do it then that's an issue.

That’s exactly what I need it for

I think it's reasonable to want to be able do a day trip to somewhere 50-100 miles away without having to worry about chargers or running out of charge.
One day that will be because we have ubiquitous, hassle-free chargers. Until then, FOGB batteries.

The Honda has the range most people need, but not the range they want.

Toyota dealer tried to get me to trade in my RAV for a new electric one, the RAV Prime.
Tried it out, great, said I will write a check right now….
Salesman says wellll you can’t have this on but if you give us your car we will order one for you. When will it come? Uh…soon.
So in the meantime I have no car?
I left.
Coworker got sucked in. Gave them his car in April and they fucked him around with “a week or two” and “definitely on it’s way” bullshit. Finally got it in October. -

The Rav4 prime is crazy popular, it’s the one I have on order (just called plug in hybrid here)
They have a face lifted version that they started building in November, so they have converted my order to the face lifted version, which is the reason they are giving for the delay.
They have told me that they are are prioritising existing orders, so doesn’t look great for lead times on new orders right now….Waiting for January for a build slot update.

Although I'd definitely get a XC90 hybrid if I had the cash.
Why? The X5 hybrid thing does it all better if you want a hybrid SUV. Or is the Ovlov thing?
-
• #1142
X5 hybrid is strictly a 5 seater I believe.
XC90 gets a 3rd row.I prefer the Volvo styling and interiors, such a nice and comfy place to sit. If they had any reasonably priced stock of the v60 or v90 hybrid, I’d jump on it.

I don't understand large hybrid SUVs. Street blocking furniture in town with tiny petrol engines on a trip.
Ovlov love is also beyond me and I've had a couple. No five cylinder goodness anymore.

I haven't watched Frozen.
A mate has a new X5 and as nice and fast as it is, there is something more elegant about the xc90.
The interior is a big sell for me, plus they are less common that the other murked out 4x4s on my nursary run. Other reasons are the number of seats and the boot seats being the safest in class.
In reality I'd need a euro millions win before I'd spend that sort of money. A regular lottery win I'd probably just make sure me and my OH's pensions were topped up and maybe move house.

Not entirely sure where to ask this but seeing as our next car will be electric it seems like the right place.
In July I had a pretty severe disc herniation which crushed my sciatic nerve resulting in a week's stay in hospital, thankfully I'm on the mend but it's a slow process.
The main consequences of this is I haven't been able to ride a bike since and although I can drive, using the clutch (the damage was to the left sciatic nerve) and driving positions are a big problem as they cause a lot of pressure on the nerve over time. The issue with driving position is that the seats put your arse below your knees so all the weight is transferred to the nerve, atm I use cushions to componsate but it's not ideal so my question is, do I have to buy an SUV in order to have a raised driving position so my bum can be level with my knees or are there other options?
I know fuck all about cars.

do I have to buy an SUV
Pretty much - that or a van type thing like the ID Buzz.
You might be able to look at something like the Polestar 2 as that's still quite high for a sedan type car.You could also look at smaller cars like the Zoe which have more upright positions but not sure if you need something larger than that.
The best thing to do is shortlist against your budget and go test drive.

I'd post in the car thread. There are other cars with high driving positions. Most MPVs are pretty high up. Not necessarily recommending it, but a ford fusion is pretty high up for a little car.
Also the actual mechanism / fitting of seat rails is pretty simple, so in the grand scheme of things not an expensive custom modification to put some sort of box section structure under the existing rails.
Maybe start here: https://www.whatcar.com/news/best-and-worst-small-cars-for-tall-drivers-2020/n17008
Some will be good for tall people due to the footwell + headroom, but others may have objectively tall cabins which would mean you could adjust the seat to be flat.

The Leaf is basically a mini MPV (roofline not much lower then a Quashqai). I think you need to go and sit in them all.
Ovlovs have great seats..

I have long wanted an ID Buzz since they showed the proto. If it wasn't for a) the name, b) it costs £60k, c) I don't need an mpv any more cos they've taken so long to bring it to market my kids have grown up and d) there's none of the interesting stuff inside any more (at least on the early versions). Also, making the middle rear seat a shit one will mean constant arguments over who goes in the middle - poor design choice.
Still think they look great though and will be envious when I see one.
I love this car. The styling is so cool. But the range is utter shit
