Don't knock it. Describe the worst mince pie you ever had? Incredible!

Excuse my ignorance, but is the mince pie a particularly british thing? Feel sad thinking it might not be enjoyed the world over.

I'm joking. They look delicious, wish I could eat them.

We probably forced it upon a fair amount of the rest of the world at some point.

They don't eat them in the US, apparently, but I managed to advocate for them hard enough that there is now a small pocket of North Americans (including some spectators from Canada) who are now adamantly pro-mincer.
Took a bit of effort to talk them down from putting lamb mince in them, but I thinkhope they've finally accepted that a mince pie and a meat pie are two different things, and that they should focus on the correct one.

Sterling work, a new year OBE for services to Mince Pie appreciation beckons.
Interestingly (or not) the first recorded 'Minst Pyes' recipe from the 1600 does use meat as the mince. Myself and Mrs Tonts once made it to the original recipe (Mutton mince, no veal, though) and it was quite delicious. Not syrupy or too sweet but very clean. Good reviews were given by friends and neighbours, only my mother in law refused to eat one.

Yes, that was the argument the North Americans made. Pulling up all these ropey medieval recipes and going see! SEE! and refusing to listen to "just because it's old doesn't mean it's right".

I've had a dozen bread ahead mince pies in in my bag all day and towards the second half of my day's meetings it was all I could think about.
Can see myself slamming the front door, sliding down the inside of it and trying to jam all 12 into my mouth as soon as I get home tbh.

Made the mistake of trying to get a Dusty Knuckle mince pie at midday. Clean out of everything. Will go back in the morning.

I think Bread Ahead are winning for me this year. Super buttery, deep fill, plump juicy fruit in the mince. Sweet and citrusy. Spot on for me.
They've always been top 3 for me, this is their first time in top position. Konditor somehow weren't as special for me this year.

Dusty Knuckle don't fuck around.
Not going to bother describing, just go and get one.

There should be an even icing dusting on top but the box got a bit bashed on the way home.

My dad's local supermarket kept selling out of mincers last year, so this year he's stocked up.

Damn - we’re heading down tomorrow to look at the house. Wondering if we can sneak into Dalston now. Do we need to head down early?

Had a Dusty Knuckle mince pie last weekend, it wasn't all that. Too crumbly.

My pack wasn't too crumbly at all! Really soft, moist, and good bite to it.

I can pick you up a pack tomorrow if you want to swing by?

Got to agree, I was disappointed by Dusty Knuckle this year. Too crumbly and the filling was overwhelmed by the pastry.
