All sorted thanks. Turned the charger fuse off and on again. Wasn't sending through the charge although apparently on. Not the car problem.

Currently charging at a public charger in Scotland and having to pay for it! Sign of the times but at 27p per kWH I can't really complain.

Also looking at an xc40 or a polestar 2. But I would have to contribute to these through work.

2.1t..... Blimey! I'm not up on EV but is that added battery weight?

I was brought up on heavyweight Vauxhall Velox and Moskvich so assumed that more modern cars would be lighter.....
-
• #1092
Can’t be.
-
• #1093
Isn’t. It’s about 1700kg.

.

2200Kg is gross vehicle weight.
The car weighs 1700Kg.
-
• #1096
Yep. Gross is the word
-
• #1097
I get the batteries. But you’d think modern materials etc. cars would be lighter

Audi Etron is 2.6 tonnes unladen.
Porsche Taycan is around 2.2 tonnes.
Light they’re not.

An Etron approaching from behind to overtake at ~30mph sounds the size of a Luton van. It’s mental, the road noise is so massive, unlike any other car, even a Range Rover size thing.
Would not want to be mowed down by one going 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. I hate to get too political but they’re a microcosm of all that’s wrong with the consumerist world reflected in the world’s most sophisticated consumer product. Vast inefficiency, style and posturing over and semblance of usefulness and actual purpose. An embarrassment to every engineer that worked on it. Never has the car industry stooped so low.

that's because it's industry is mostly populated by little boys wanting to build those fantasy car drawings they did in school, everything looks like a transformer about to morph into a robot saving the planet except they are not saving anything.
The whole male ego design language for motorcars needs to change, more women need to be employed in the process so the industry can grow up and be more responsible, it's had over 100 years to do this so no excuses.
How old is elderly? I thought they had only been making them for a little more than 10 years.
