I bought Lidls own €3 brandy
We need a 'GC on opposite day' thread for things like this.

I've heard that stuff referred to as "off-brand-y"
-
• #3454
You're not the first person to suggest it actually.

I used to buy Sainos own brand whisky that came in a plastic 2 litre bottle. That stuff was like drinking drain cleaner.

Any trip abroad in your teens and early twenties wasn't complete without bringing back some vodka in a plastic bottle that could double up as paint stripper.

Ironic who started it.

When I was a lad, we all used make "mystery mixes" for Friday nights hanging out at Roundacre or a car park
Take an empty Fanta bottle, full it with small amounts of whatever booze was in the parents drinks cupboard, top it off with whatever pop was available.
Ghastly concoctions guaranteed to induce vomiting. -

I've made more than a few of those as a kid

My first experience drinking scotch was proper blue/red label tesco own brand. I had a horrendous hangover and whatever scotch I've tried since just tastes exactly the same. Went to whisky distillery tour with my wife a few years ago and everything they pulled out to taste just tasted rank. My wife's there going 'oh yeah, that's nice' and I'm trying not to heave.
I guess as a cosequence I've never 'got' scotch, or folks who rave about it.

Francis Bourgeois. OK, his camera angle and laugh were funny for 30 seconds but now he's fucking swanning about in head to toe Gucci and on TV, seems like he's always been a bit more than just a 'trainspotter' eh?

And what's wrong with that, really?
I don't follow him, but surely the main point is 'presumably-autistic guy with unrestrained enthusiasm for socially-unacceptable hobby is also entertaining/successful/attractive/marketable'?

Sports Personality of the Year
I think it was created at a time when Brits weren't winning much in international sports, so that they could say "Here's a nice person. They tried hard and they were very British about losing gracefully." And any time somebody actually won, they got the award even if they had less personality than their snooker cue.

It's fucking hard to dip full-sized corn on the cob in hummus though, isn't it
-
• #3474
There’s so many better things to dip in hummus that corn doesn’t need to come into the discussion, so an inferior miniature product isn’t needed.
