  • Curious to know how ashp make enough hot water to deal with mixer showers? Can't imagine they keep up with systems that were designed for a gas combi to feed them.
    Not a dig at the tech, just curious if they are capable of making a shower work.
    Edit. Answered my own question. Ashp heats an indirect cylinder, gravity or unvented through a coil, then water pressure feeds the mixer. Easy.

    Many new own builds in rural Scotland are on air or ground source pumps, sized right and houses built with modern insulation standard, and folk are happy with them. Add in some solar or wind to counter some of the electric costs and its a winner.

  • This is going to make all the combi conversions that removed water tanks a much more expensive job as gas is phased out and ASHP become "mandatory".
