Man Flu

No sleep whatsoever. Freezing cold despite heating on full and even one of those little fan heaters balanced on a shelf aiming directly onto me. Ludicrous headaches. Coughing fits. Sneezing. And utterly blocked and pressured sinuses.

I was supposed to go and to the BVE thing today :(

Balls.

Been feeling like shit for over a week now. Seemingly endless supplies of mucus. A headache that wakes me up too early and which is resistant to painkillers. A generalised ache. A loss of appetite for food. Alcohol tastes horrible. It's my fucking birthday this week.

But at least there's a thread on LFGSS where I can vent about it.

I think mine is finally ending. Only had it since monday. Lucky escape I think

fark me I have the worst sore throat I've ever had - convinced it was sleazy jet flight that did it - any good remedies for alleviating feeling of swallowing razor blades sideways?

If you want to avoid or supplement painkillers- Green tea, honey, juice of half a lemon, and generous amounts of cayenne pepper.

Mad hot curry - packed full of antibacterial agents and decongestants. Like radiator flush for snot.

Cider wine vinegar, honey, lemon, pepper and a couple of shots of whiskey mixed in a glass. Gargle with it for a bit first. If this fails then just hit the whiskey straight

The last illness I had was tonsillitis, one of the most painful things ever.
Been illness free since then though, over two years! Cracking immune system.

Pretty sure, we’ve been lateral flow testing negative and it feels different from the two previous Covid bouts.
Trying to time share the adulting but just wanna adopt the foetal position.

I'm just on the mend from a chest infection, it felt a lot like what you're describing (bar the sore knackers thankfully). Apparently there's a stinker going around! If it doesn't clear itself up in a couple of days it's worth seeing your doctor, a combination of antibiotics and an inhaler have sorted me out pretty quickly.
Hope you're feeling better soon, it's a shit time of year to be ill.

It's worth trying more than one brand of test if you haven't.

We've got it and only the Surescreen tests pick it up. That happened to be the first one we tried, we just realised later that if we did a different test we were negative!

Sure it's not false positives as it's happened to both of us and test lines were stronger at first then have faded - other half tested negative for the first time today.

We have just recovered from Norovirus, way worse than when I had Covid.

Major stomach cramps, achy muscles, cold and feverish with added both ends going.

You can recatch Norovirus so be militant with cleaning everything now you've recovered and maintain exceptional hygiene.

Yes I had this exact thing - except gonads issue - end of last week. It's doing the rounds. Two nights with temp around 40 degrees, which burned itself out, and then became a minor chest infection and then sinusitis. Viral so didnt bother wasting GP time with this. Started Wednesday night and now basically better.
