  • That Deepsea challenge is a bit “chunky”

  • But obviously awesome.
I bet I never get to handle another!!

  • What's the RRP on one of those?
    (Curiosity, not intent)

  • Fortis f43 triple GMT?

  • £22000 . But completely irrelevant.
Apparently people in the states are already asking £100000 over list.
That’s one of the first in the uk , apparently only 8 here.
It is fabulously well put together.

  • Wow fantastic. Congrats

  • Ah, now it makes sense. You need really, really deep pockets just to afford one.

  • Nope it’s the fortis cosmonauts chronograph

  • Does it come with a happy ever after…

  • Do you need to ask ?

  • Speedy is much nicer. Are you definitely going for a new watch?

@Regal more pictures please. How is the winding action?

  • Fortis Cosmo

Yes!! So much more interesting than that Tudor

  • Don’t have a ton of pictures yet - it’s not the easiest to photograph either. I swapped it to this saffiano strap earlier (though I am starting to think it might be best on black or navy).

Winding action is interesting. It’s smooth with a quiet click, and quite heavy - there’s a fair bit of spring resistance.

  • Is the SD a bit thinner than the autos? It's the only thing that puts me off GS. Even the manual winders have a manly girth.

  • That Deepsea challenge is a bit “chunky”

    The challenge is wearing it.

  • Much thinner, in the case of the hand wound (9R31) Spring Drives. These watches are about 10mm and wear thinner, I’d say. Considering the depth of the dial furniture and the length of the power reserve it’s impressively thin. They even do a 44GS model with the 9R31 that’s 10.5mm.

The newest generation automatic movements (9SA5) are thinner than the old ones though. They tend to be sub-12mm watches rather than the 14mm+ that a lot of the older generation of models are. They do actually seem to be making an effort on that front.

  • So my budget is £3k for either a new bike - All Road or a watch.

The latter needs to be able to be worn for any occasion, takes a bracelet or nato or leather strap which also looks timeless and wears well not a chunky thing

  • Interesting. This watch, to me, would be one of those that’s basically perfect when it comes to design… but would also rarely serve the purpose of a watch as it’s so beautiful, that it’s guaranteed I’d forget to check the time when I look at it.

  • We need a video of that smoooooth seconds hand!

  • I know what you mean. The level of glitter/reflection is fairly high which is always a bit distracting on a watch (though if you want more they make a 9-link bracelet for this case that is seriously blingy). Also the dial texture pattern sometimes causes like an interference/moiré effect with the seconds hand which is quite eye-catching and I end up looking at that rather than telling the time.

Photos are a long way from how it looks IRL though. @hurricane_run I'll post a video at some point.

  • Are you not terrified of dinking it? I hope you have wooden door knobs.

@bur70n_ second hand Sinn like the one upthread and a second hand bike from the classifieds here. I had a similar quandary and spent the lot on a bike! Much as I adore zoot watches, I'm uncomfortable with branding and luxx gizz.

  • Are you not terrified of dinking it?

    Big time.

  • What's your thoughts against the An Ordain you have? Two very different approaches to the 3 hander.
