If the nut is part of the cartridge, and so disposable, you could always grab it with mole grips.

I’d have a cautious go with a decent set of grips/dogs/pipe wrenches/channel locks (delete as regionally appropriate).

Bit of final sanding, lots of cheap crown paint and, done. Must say I'm happy how it turned out!

Want to sand and oil the wood before I run some caulk around the edges.

My wife and I have just spent the last 3 days finishing the downstairs toilet before christmas. Tiler was in last week which meant we only had this weekend to build and install the units and install the toilet. The last unit has no door as it will be where the cats litter tray lives. Super happy with it, sorry no before pic but it really was horrendous. Lino floor on top of cracked tiles and an unused shower unit in the corner. Learned a lot on this one, and only flooded the room twice…

Haha, good point I didn't realise that photo was from before the tap went in. Rest assured, the tap was functional before the toilet was christened.

Standard combi gas boiler of 30kw are around £1200-2200 depending on features and brand etc. If its almost like for like, so not messing around with having to re-plumb the entire house, might have to go outside and sort out new flue installation. SE prices I can see a £1k for a days work, because SE
Unless you've got electrical supply, gas supply, need £5k of scaff to be able to fit a new flue then that price is £6-7k over priced.

Recently found out one of my neighbours was done for a similar amount for a boiler replacement. Ended up it was damn near like for like, same brand + model, just obviously the minimal amount of fresh pipework and a power flush. Except they didn't do an meaningful flush as their two biggest rads are still half full of sludge. They didn't seem phased that they had been basically scammed though*

*Same people last year were putting up a fight for their end of tree maintenance (£96 per property)

That’s a full repipe and fitting (though not supplying) new rads. Bit of roof work for the flue.

Anyone wanting to do some boxing in on boxing day i have a bag of unopened knauf drywall adhesive and some plasterboard off cuts from 24-30cm wide and 80-120cm long free to collect tomorrow in SE19 or they are going to be added to the waste collection. you have to take both as i can store the adhesive for the next time i need it.

Quotes for both just to compare, or are you considering a hybrid system?

Curious to know how ashp make enough hot water to deal with mixer showers? Can't imagine they keep up with systems that were designed for a gas combi to feed them.
Not a dig at the tech, just curious if they are capable of making a shower work.
Edit. Answered my own question. Ashp heats an indirect cylinder, gravity or unvented through a coil, then water pressure feeds the mixer. Easy.

Many new own builds in rural Scotland are on air or ground source pumps, sized right and houses built with modern insulation standard, and folk are happy with them. Add in some solar or wind to counter some of the electric costs and its a winner.
