I went to Glos services. They had the Hobbs House mincers which were pretty awesome. Going there is always dangerous, somehow even a small shopping basket makes me feel like I need a mortgage to pay for it.

No idea where the cheese shop on Royal Hill in Greenwich gets it's mince pies from but I have a new leader for this season.

by Jolene.
The price of a kidney (3.50£), but one that makes you appreciate the big difference with supermarket mince pies. Quite classic crust, nothing too original, but very well executed. Not too much butter and yet nicely crumbly. I particularly appreciated the filling with very little booze.

First non bakery bought mince pie I've thought could compete with bakery made.
Pastry was heavenly, biscuity levels to the pastry, which wasn't something I thought was going to be a quality I appreciated but here we are. Filling was right to the top and tasted fruity and boozy. A good warmth as it went down which made it feel like actual booze rather than just boozy flavour.
Need a wheel up/10

Pophams pastry affair with built in brandy butter. Not enough filling but it slaps all the same

Peckham Greggs have been very patchy with their supply so tried the Oggs ones @Cazakstan mentioned. Pretty good replacement, the Greggs pastry is more melt in your mouth but the filling on these is pretty good.

As per a few pages back; the non salted caramel ones are banging too.

anyone tried a Chatsworth Bakery mince pie slice?
I'm wondering if the booking of a slot and then queuing is going to be worth it?
lots of hype or baked goods nirvana? -

Ottolenghi’s finest. Have to say, I wasn’t keen, pastry was outstanding but the mince was overly dark, strong and very sour, needed a slug of sugar. But perhaps my taste for mincers is cheaping!

A perhaps bias recco but any SE Londoners should try the mince pies being sold at Browns of Brockley, Bon in Dulwich, and St David’s Coffee House in Forest Hill. We’ve been hearing lots of great feedback with phrases like ‘best mince pie I’ve ever had’ being repeated a few times... I know, i know, a big claim. But I reckon they’re up there. Here’s a pic of some fresh out the oven, pre-icing sugar dusting.

Went into Miel on warren st today. They must take the prize for most expensive mine pie. 3.50 each. I didn’t buy one, worried that disappointment was inevitable at that price.
