Lol. I have nothing against Italians or Italian design in general. But I do find that top tube offensive.

I find that offensive
is precisely what a WASP would say.
It’s a matter of Gusto as Caccia would say. 🤷
In terms of door handles, Caccia>Aalto anyday btw -

Scarpa > Caccia

I feel guilty writing this at a Scarpa Doge table but I respectfully disagree.
Scarpa is undoubtedly a singular architectural artist in his realm of Byzantine Gestalt, but nowhere as atoned to urban context and the human body and not nearly as rigorous and sensual in his plastic Formgivning as Caccia. Which for me, professionally speaking, carries more weight.
Scarpas chairs are nearly as brute as those of FLW, not even in the same ballpark as Caccia.
Extra points to Luigi for not being a sexist cunt waxing poetic about curvy women.
Anyone nowadays still considering a Gaetano Pesce UP6 needs a thorough caning and be sent to horny jail. -

I think there's supposed to be a butterfly on the top tube, but it looks like a dog has curled a walnut whip onto it. Apt.

It took me forever to read what it says on the downtube, then I thought 'batspad? What the fuck's that,' but then there was this https://www.gessato.com/batspad-en-route-e-bike/amp/

Additionally, carefully selected parts from European and French manufacturers ensure the high-end quality...
... Hope brakes made in the United Kingdom; an Ingrid drivetrain, machined and assembled in Italy; and with Mavic aluminum rims, an Aivee wheel hub and Mach1 spokes made in France.Sounds like it fell through a wormhole from the Frexhit timeline

Just all these fancy things you speak of. Genuinely curious about the serious doorknob knowledge.

italian design is shit
If we go back to Sontag, as we always must in this thread and especially on a Sunday, the problem with Italian design, perhaps more so than with anything else which might be characterised as a national school, is not strictly that it is shit, but that for too long and too widely it has been camp.

^ I prefer the brass potatos for Azucena to Olivari
Essentially, architectural sightseeing and closely following online design auctions (not that I can afford partaking in well curated ones, like Cambi Casa d'Aste or Wannenes)
There's an Aalto cultural center near me, had plenty of opportunities to admire the detailing.
@gbj_tester don't share your sentiment but that made for a great reading, thanks.

When I think of it, WASPs and the like bashing Italian design with the same tired tropes is quite golf club.
May or may not be overcompensation.
edit: Fuck me, I want that Pina.
