I'm sure this has been done, but it's the first time I've seen it... i'm blown away by how sexy it is. Wonder what it costs... £5k for frameset?

I heard about that. Looks further spread than first thought. Lucky it doesn't impact beer or Cherry Ripes :)

I think Ergotec are onto something!

Gravel being seen as an extension of "urban adventure".I guess it's time to fully embrace the flat bar/flat pedal hybrids. ;-)

Oh wow, i'm loving this! How do you feel about belt drive in comparison to traditional drivetrain?

Will you stay for Tour Down Under and venture into South Australia?

Love it.
My only complaint of it is that because you run it a lot tighter than a chain it does feel a bit draggy. Mostly feel that turning the pedals by hand, I’m not sure I notice it so much when actually riding. Someone has probably done a scientific comparison.
It’s much smoother than a chain, like if you ‘ratchet’ the pedals with a chain it’ll be klunk klunk klunk as you engage drive, the belt feels softer but in a good way.
The lack of mess when you take it on/off is really nice but that alone wouldn’t sell it to me because it’s not like that’s a daily occurrence.
The best bit for me is those rides where it’s really wet and there’s silty grit around that would normally get all over your chain and have it feeling rough af and it probably never really cleans out/off your chain, doesn’t happen. My drivetrain feels as smooth and clean today as it did the first day I got it.

Nah, only here a few weeks so staying local and then heading to Melbourne. My bro was just in Radelaide with his brother in law but we don't really head there often.

Did anyone ever buy one of these Routewerks bags? My lovely wife wants an idea for a last minute present for me. And I'm quite tempted by one.

Ah the joys of brexit. They have a warehouse in the Netherlands, but have to ship to UK from the states.. at a cost of 80 dollars. Customs charges included.
Edit.. shipping to an EU address....free

i got one for an ex who likes it but doesn't ride that much. was generally well reviewed by cyclingtips but apparently quite heavy if you care

When I've had a belt drive, I couldn't kick the feeling that it actually is slower and more sluggish than external gears... Especially when I'd go out riding with my buddies - I'd always have a hard time keeping up the speed.
I loved the silence and maintenance free aspect though - no lubing ever and it just goes.
Might try it again in the future... -

They are less efficient. It's measurable and there are figures around if you care to search. It's more at higher speeds. But still not by a great deal.

Shitloads of 'pigface' out in Koorlong which is kinda of a succulent and full of water so when you ride over it your tyres get wet and then you pick up a nice coating of red loam. The only 'gravel' is probably the actual dirt roads out here rather than these bush tracks.

Did you ever ride the same bike with the belt then with a chain? Or vice versa?
I was out on an bunch gravel ride other day and found the pace quite manageable. They only place I suffered was on a long climb and I reckon that was more to do with the weight of the bike (and my fitness) than the belt.
Mechanics always gotta do some dumb shit with a bike project
