The bike's well before the sti/ergo era, so I'm guessing the frame was specced for stem mounted shifters only, so that's how they've approached that particular problem.
Bar-ends have been around for quite a while, however, so I'm not sure why they didn't do the usual DT boss with stops (or a clamp on). Perhaps an aesthetic choice?
Is there something odd about the Bob Jackson braze ons?
