I think 11 is plenty big enough for a full size. You can get a lot of tuning issues with 3/4 scale length guitars.
I don't know about the relative quality of the starter guitars that are out there - I would definitely go for something with a fixed bridge like the one you linked to, rather than a Strat-style vibrato. But I have no idea about the G4M one vs the East Coast ones from Andertons vs a Squier pack, etc.
