Can I ask where you got that? I’ve heard great things about the ‘98.

Mrs Ludd bought it, I suspect from Tanners in Shrewsbury.

Bloke at the wine shop pointed me towards this today. Told me it wasn’t going to get better so I should drink it soon, so I did.

Can anyone shed some light on these bottles? Am I going to be able to retire early? 😂

If that Vouvray is from a very good producer and a very good vintage and has been stored perfectly you have a tiny chance of it not being completely fucked. No chance that white Graves is drinkable.
EDIT google says 1987 Vouvray wasn't anything special so that is junk too. Maybe keep the bottles as candle holders?

Well I didn't want to give false hope!

When I see bottles of white wine in this condition, it gives me night terrors.
Best plan of action is to sell them to someone with a gambling nature....

I’ll throw in a Olympic 50p piece if you give me £100

In case people are interested in larger bottles, I have good selection of Champagne magnums here in London.
LFGSS gets trade prices (which are changing next year):- Pole Position Brut = £49.50 (100% Meunier)
- Pole Position Rosé = £53.50 (100% Meunier - traditional method)
- Triple Couronne Rosé de Saignée = £60 (100% Meunier - macération method)
- Match Play 2012 or 2013 = £66 (50% Chardonnay / 25% Pinot Noir / 25% Meunier)
Shipping is £6 via Packfleet for all London postcodes, £12 via APC overnight for all other standard UK areas.

Marketplace find for £5. Removed one corner and it slides in perfectly.
Thankfully it's unheated in there and in the middle of the house so with luck humidity will be stable. Only managed to half fill it moving all my wine from various hidey holes so need a paycheque for wine procurement purposes.

Nice!
No space for a decent hidden rack in our ongoing refurb so we went for full show recently.

Love that. I definitely want something for show in the kitchen.
The hidden storage is for the good/cellaring wines. I need something to distract my wife from them.

^^ That rack is giving me the fear. After my second bottle I'd knock the whole lot onto the floor

Decant 3 or so in advance and stay well clear 😉

Huge congratulations on your wedding!
Thank you for the post & glad to hear Champagne was enjoyed!
Always nice to have magnums to celebrate 🎉🎉🎉

Our production levels (circa 20,000 per annum) and ultimately average bottle price unfortunately does not allow us to attend international events.

Got these two lined up for Father's Day.
My dad wouldn't drink nice wine if I didn't make him.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a vacuum pump that isn't super expensive, or I could look for 2nd hand?
The problem is we don't drink much anymore, so when we do open a bottle we may just have two glasses and leave it for weeks and weeks. I'm trying putting it in the fridge - especially with the heat. But my thinking is that if I can remove a lot of the air, then it'll keep better.
Cheers

Different is right. Mrs H was absolutely not a fan, so it all ended up with me.
