I've been after one ever since pawg highly recommended them at the end of the summer but there was a 2 month wait plus 2-3 weeks for uk shipping which i thought was too long so didn't bother. That's gone up to 3 months now plus the shipping wait and he's closed until new year. Esprit nato and zulu diver both do two piece nylon straps that will give you the same look but the Nick Mankeys are meant to be supremely comfortable i guess because they're elastic. Apparently Erika will make a 2 piece as a special order if you email them but I'd imagine that would be quite expensive. The hook straps look really good value as well it's just a shame they're so difficult to get hold of.
I found these though

The weird little footprint kinda threw me off

Thanks! But by the time I saw this, I already ordered from Watchgecko. Proces were reasonable and all.

It is a long wait but I might order two or three in the new year, forget about them and hopefully they'll be a nice surprise around my birthday in May!

Hmm yes I get that, I would've preferred it without those too

They are definitely worth it. Probably my favourite elastic strap. Just perfect once you figure out how to use it.

I have mine on the Sharkhunter at the moment.

Cheers, will definitely order some!
@Retro_Bastard I'll give you a heads up when I order just in case, combine shipping, etc.

• #68587
Cheers I'll be up for at least one in the new year if you order and combi shipping makes sense 👍

Does anyone know if I’d have a fighting chance of a successful movement transplant between these? Modern donor into the old case? I’d want the old hands and ideally the date wheel(s)
Tell me I’m mad to consider it.. I just have a soft spot for the old version (struggle to find these that are still running) and the modern version is not doing it for me.

Open them up - is it the same quartz movement? If so, date wheels are attached, hand transplant is fairly simple if they’re the same size.
if not… no.

The day/date holes look to be very different sizes, and locations.
I suspect either set of wheels in the other face will look terribly wrong.

^ This. Looks like a totally different movement.

I’m confident they won’t be the same quartz movement 40 years later.. I just wondered if they were sized similarly enough I could make it work. The date wheels are definitely the sticking point.

Do they have movement reference numbers on the caseback? You might be able to look up the specs / dimensions, eg on Caliber Corner:
https://calibercorner.com/category/quartz/
New one apparently uses a Seiko PC33. Old one is likely a Timex-made movement (internet suggests an M138) so probably quite different.

Out in the sun with this, no snow here in Suffolk.
Keep thinking of a getting a new watch or a bike... Not sure which, tired on some Tudor watches yesterday. Quite like the Ranger over the black bay dive and 41mm

I have finally found the perfect strap for the Drive, and its from Timex!!! Giorgio Galli rubber strap. The flat black makes the dial pop!
