The only issue I had with the 1150 engine was the low speed o2 sensor balance. They only have an 02 sensor on one exhaust so it can run lean on the other cylinder at low revs. There's a box you can buy to fool the sensor into running a little richer.
It's a really good bike for anything other than low speed stuff around town. It can handle it but it's not really what it's designed for. From the 1200 engine on they've had 2 02 sensors.
I really fancy an R1150RT for my twice weekly 75 mile commute- mostly motorway with a bit of London.
Am I wrong?
