I don’t think so. He seems to be trying to invent the ‘neural lace’ concept that he picked up from Ian M. Banks’ sci-fi novels.

Funny that, since there's a book or two that play devils advocate in discussing why the culture are fundamentally bastards, and the neural lace an intrusion on human identity.
