nice, what's the deal with the pickup? Is it a standard humbucker or something else going on with the rails?

Very nice. I quite like Reverend guitars - greg koch is a very guilty pleasure of mine and his T-style with the inbuilt preamp looks awesome.

It’s basically a standard humbucker, Reverend sell them separately under the Railhammer brand. Apparently the massive poles/rails are the USP. Certainly seemed pretty versatile during the test drive - nice cleans but plenty of Randy Rhoads squeal too
