This kinda makes sense but I guess how long you intend to ride makes a difference. I don’t think I would be comfortable during 10 hour rides in winter with arm warmers on, for example. I’d much prefer a LS jersey.
I’ve almost reached my limit of the amount of clothing I can be bothered to put on for a ride around Edinburgh in winter. This is incredibly boring but here goes; deep winter socks, Sidi Dominators, cargo bibs, deep winter tights, LS base layer, winter jersey, softshell jacket, merino hat, deep winter gloves. The only thing I can really do to increase my warmth is use a deep winter hat, winter base layer, glove liners and hardshell jacket. And clear lens sunglasses, they genuinely help a lot.
If I get wet at this time of year, then I consider myself fucked and I’ll sack off the ride. There’s no coming back from the shivers in sub-zero temps no matter what you’re wearing.
