  • That Walkers Mincer needs to be reported to the Police, nothing they say about it on the box is reflected in the pie.

  • Walkers Shortbread is decent

  • Sainsbury’s own brand knocks it into a cocked hat, IMHO. Developed quite the shortbread habit last winter so had to go cold turkey. haven’t had any for a 9 months or so.

  • The worst is Paterson's.

  • Not had that, but will avoid.

  • It's often very cheap in Tesco. Do definitely avoid

  • I used to work in that factory! It was My First Job, a million years ago :3

  • Mince pies at Google in Dublin - excellent vegan pastry but filling lacked the ooomph I’m after

  • You make this? Or just random find? I ask cause I need some pin badges made.

  • Random find I’m afraid.

However, I have had a small quantity of badges made in the past (2013!) by https://www.mlbadges.com/ and they’re great.

  • Sweet thanks.

  • Rate the shortbread but it's definitely not the same recipe used for the mince pies. Proper let down.

  • Any Sheffield members of the Mince Pie Appreciation Society should make a point of heading to the Forge Bakehouse to buy up all of their mince pies. Pastry is biscuity rich, mince is absolutely on point with just the right amount of booze. Just don’t go today as I’ve just been and they don’t have any left now.

  • That looks legit

  • £9 in Bangkok:

  • Just had a Greggs mince pie for the first time in about 3 years. Pastry is fairly decent, generous filling, simultaneously extremely sweet yet with a tangy note lingering on the palate. No discernible booze element though.

Best I've had so far, but not as good as I remember them from the halcyon days of 2010

    7.2/10

  • The Quality Wines mince pie - not your traditional mincer with almonds on top of a frangipane topping. Slaps tho.

  • Attempted to occupy my ill kids today. Aldi mincemeat a bit too syrupy and weirdly had the vague scent of banana. Decently boozy, pastry fine. Better hot. Probably a 6/10.

  • Decent offering from G Kelly on Roman Road at 90p a pie. Fairly thick pastry, but the filling is rather nice...

  • If you Dunn know, now you know.

Shouldn't this be just 'You Dunn know.' these days?
I have just finished watching Top Boy.

  • I was going for a Biggie quote

  • Just made my first ever batch - plain old Co-op shortcrust and a cheap jar of mincemeat from Saino's, and it tasted better than anything I've ever bought. Probably because I'm always very impressed with myself when I manage to do anything new.

  • Congrats......

  • If you're in/near Clapton, Iva at Hub Velo has made mince pies today and they're (unsurprisingly!) good. Plenty left because the club runs were cancelled due to ice risk.
