It's going to be very very cold. Cagimaha has drawn up a lovely looking route. Those that are coming, let's meet at cafe Nero in Beckenham for 8:45ish - might be wise to have a chat through some options and ice risk etc. Hopefully do the full route though!
Shout if you can't/don't wanna make it. :)

Hopefully it stays pretty dry between now and Saturday but will make a call closer to the time.
Route is attached here, thinking coffee stop at the Velo Barn which is roughly half way round.

My very urban ride last night had ice everywhere. Any water on any roads other than the gritted ones was icy. Looked back on my pic on last page from previous ride, wouldn't want to ride over that iced.
Is a sad but sensible decision. If only it was raining instead! -

So much YOLO feels today, maybe it would have been fine?? Chewed up frozen footpaths and Richmond Park where I ended up probably not accurate representation of reality out there.

I had a spin across town this afternoon on an errand and it was still very icy anywhere that hadn't been gritted so as annoying as it is I think it was the right call!

It's one thing to have ice but expect it to melt later in the morning, but it just never defrosted really. Little dips in the lanes / small puddles by shaded hedgerows, I think a lot of it stayed frozen all day. Dunno what the grit level is anyway as sometimes there is build up from when the gritters are out over the course of the winter, but this is the first ice of the season. Imo wise to swerve it.
