  • Second recco for Beckford Bottle Shop. Food is superb.

  • Thanks re the bottle shop.

Looks lovely, I'll have to get the green light from the commander first ;-)

  • There is a great Nepalese restaurant in Bath called Yak Yeti Yak.

    Best name ever.

  • The Walcot is pretty family friendly in the front section. Have only been for Sunday roasts, which are great.

Landrace Bakery nearby is worth a stop for a takeaway cinnamon bun.

Both a bit of a walk from the station.

+1 Beckford Bottle Shop is great.

  • Yeah, spotted this on Google maps. I’ve been the the one in north London and it’s delish.

Not sure our toddler is ready for a curry quite yet though 😉

  • Awesome, I’ll check these out too.

The bottle shop is already a push at 15mins + walk from the station, with lunchies typically being at 12. But the timings will be all over the place that day.

Edit: the walk is about the same time according the gmaps

  • Other recs for Bath are landrace upstairs and corkage, corkage probably the more family friendly of the two as Landrace is up some tricky stairs (exceptional loo though)
+1 for BBS and Pinxto, also great.
Landrace for takeaway provisions very good, as are the hot sandwiches from Green Street butchers (part of The Walcot group) if you want something quick to go.

  • Not sure our toddler is ready for a curry quite yet though

Rice and dall used to work well for mine when they were small....

  • I wish my toddler didnt like curry, I am tired of cooking.

  • Any reccos for a fancy nice place around St James that might still have a table for Saturday lunch or dinner?

  • The Wolseley is pretty fancy

  • I thought Fallow was excellent when I went. Aquavit is good too.

  • Great, thanks for those. We had our secret wedding dinner at the Wolseley - bit of a tradition for us.

  • Not the usual style of this thread but I went for my 3rd visit to Japes in Soho for their deep dish Chicago style pizza this weekend and I rate it.

Would love to try the real deal in Chicago.

  • Yes! I've been trying but failing to nail deep dish at home in recent months. Have been looking for somewhere to scratch the itch and get some inspiration. Thanks!

  • Yes! Not the usual suggestion on here but definitely scratched an itch pre-Covid after watching a documentary on Chicago with continuous mention of pizza-pie etc. Initial thoughts were that the pizza was small, but my god did that thing put me into a food coma.

I thought just the same when I went there.

  • Thanks for all the recommendations folks.

We went to The Walcot in the end. Lovely venue and delicious food.

I had the bavette steak and the better half had the burger, both fantastic.

There isn’t a kids menu so we got our toddler hummus and bread, also delish.

There’s no baby changing facilities but I didn’t check beforehand nor for a kids menu.

After a few hours of mooching about Bath in the cold, we tried to grab a coffee at a few places. Nearly all the coffee shops are tiny and didn’t have space for a buggy and seating for a little family.

If anyone else is going with little fam, I’d suggest planning your coffee stop.

    Much love.

  • Just tried to book Rogues on Hackney Road, but missed the last table with a decent time. It's on the list still.
Any other recommendations in the Haggerston/Dalston area by any chance? (for tomorrow).

  • Morito, Brat, Testi are all very solid

  • Do you like fish? Scott’s of Mayfair.. expect pricey doors but food and service is top notch.

  • Cheers, booked Brat, looking forward to trying

  • Ah it's great, I reckon you'll love it! Highly recommend the Chin Chin vinho verde too...
