• Yeah cool, I kinda guessed it was a Val 72 because the lower pusher is perceptibly further from the crown than the upper but have never seen this reference before - found it now, Ref E 13001

    I’m currently balls deep in a vintage Heuer phase and the 2447’s are also powered by teh sex Valjoux 72.

  • Val. 72 are the ford escort of chrono movements aren't they? Just ubiquitous because they are awesome and work.

    I've a dedicated eBay search for them and I get all sorts pop up.

  • I think the 72 is a cut above if you’re being a column wheel snob, I’d give the Valjoux 7730/7733 the work horse title.

    It’s a bit like Omega 321 Vs 861, there are good reasons they redesigned the movement for cam operation but the older chronographs just feel nicer when you actuate the button.
