I'm sure you'll need more than one ride to form a full opinion, but whats your initial thoughts of the 1x gearing?

Maybe a little under geared, but more change of front ring rather than going to 2x. I had similar on the Slate but the Etap is definitely an improvement.

Big issue is how/ when do I clean it given how cold it is now!!

What combination of front ring and rear cassette are you running? I pretty quickly increased my front ring on my 1X set up.
