  • What’s the best rear light to go on the Brompton reflector bracket? I want a permanently fixed light. I don’t have a dynamo. I am thinking replaceable batteries rather than rechargeable.

    B&M flat senso
    B&M 2C - rechargeable but considering
    Spanninga

    Seem to be the options.

  • If not SON dynamo, Cateye rapid X mini is my go to; with an X-Lite 100 on the saddle rails.

  • B&M flat senso

    B&M 2C - rechargeable but considering
    Spanninga

6 months and water ingress will kill these, always seems to

  • I had the B&M 2C rechargeable (bought from Brilliant Bikes £22, now £33). It lasted 2.5 years mounted on the brake bridge reflector mount (I’d gone from H6R to H6L) then the micro USB port died, basically I noticed it rattled when I tried to insert the cable, the orange charge light would briefly come on then instantly go out again. I tried many different positions to get a solid connection, but short of staying perfectly still and holding it for 2+ hours was a no-no.

Bought a B&M Senso as replacement (also from Brilliant Bikes), then learnt online it might be not so good long term. I had to reverse the bolts on the Brom rack in order to fit (bolt heads inwards, nuts on outside of rack, went back to H6R mode) as clearance was non-existent (feared I might break light trying to get battery cover on & off).

I was using 2C in addition to Exposure Trace & TraceR for daytime rides (got an Exposure Strada 800 for dark) though @amey will prob say ‘Dyno’ (I’ve been a forum lurker for a while). Did actually buy Brom SP Dyno wheel with front & rear lights and cabling from fleabay, though never got round to fitting.

  • Perhaps not what you’re looking for but maybe something to consider; an exposure under the saddle with the saddle rail mount? It’s what I’ve been using and it’s fits very nicely on the Brompton saddle.
