I live in Cumbria and for a long time now the local politicians have painted the mine as a carbon mine for making steel. Saving expensive imports and making us self sufficient
Never been any mention of it being full of sulphur, no good for steel and being exported.... I wonder why.

And it's sulfur rich low quality coal for export...not even the good quality.
There's a small coal mine that sells to steam train hobby clubs, ok..niche but I can't get mad about that.
But this is don't understand..coal mining often leaves big holes, and it stopped being profitable at scale in NL / Belgaum etc. decades ago. So Wft?
