  • Just finished this one. 1981 Professional, original paint. Lots of Dura Ace 7400.

  • paint is stunning. decent build too. hope you ride it.

  • Thanks! I've put a lot into this one. Spent a long time sourcing all the parts. It's definitely a fair weather only bike but yes, it will be ridden!

  • unexpected house renovations may well dictate that I have to sell something in order to cough up my share of the cash, (and I don't think I can bear to sell my Rondinella) so this may well be up for sale at some point soonish . Currently needs a clean and is fitted with PDW mudguards as it's done wet weather/commuting duties on and off for a few years , but with a bit of a clean and a polish think I can get it back looking like this or there abouts.

Thought I'd mention it here incase anyone is after a pro lugless with polished Campag (10 speed Centaur-the Ultratorque type)

  • If the price is right I could be very tempted! Lovely colour. Looks like my size as well....

  • I think it's a 56 seat tube at least. I'd need to measure it really. Have to work out the price for the full build and get some more recent photos, but I'll post it here first when that is done

  • Love the gentle fork rake on Mercian frames :)

  • Currently on eBay. Don't see many lugless builds like this, although I'd like to see a bit of colour.

  • Mercian does the worst lugless builds. 50% are unfinished and ugly. Jack taylor’s brother managed it because he had skills and talent, this just looks like poorly filled aluminium tig welds.

  • I've not seen any others to comment tbh. To my untrained eye, I suppose these look ok, I didn't really consider it. Not saying I like it particularly, just a rare clean Mercian build without barbers pole etc. I also think the 80s (?) decals would have suited this better.

  • Probably one of the nicer newer builds. They usually have ugly components on them.

  • My 1957 Vincitore

  • My reconnexion with the Mercian gang would have been a short one... About 8 months only until I crashed it with another cyclist (nothing bad, everybody was fine). I didn't even notice the damage for about 2 weeks. Top tube and down tubes bent. Finally stripped it. Good bye Mercian!

  • Evening all, just flagging up my Mercian for sale. Have a great weekend!

  • Cross post from current projects but just finished building this up. I think it’s a Mercian audax with custom canti posts instead of long drops as it doesn’t have the lettering on the top eyes that the KOM does. Also no mounts on the fork. Fits 35c plus mudguards and has 1” Threadless steerer.

Currently running 9 speed Ultegra Long cage with DA shifters, might convert to bar ends at some point (hooray for cross compatibility 9 speed). Just need to get some raw flaps and a Garmin mount.

  • My new Audax Special in Reynolds 853
Colour matched to an Almasty Single Hop Nelson Sauvin beer can lol (- no special reason, I had a very strong idea of the colour in my mind then one night saw this can in my local that was just exactly right)
Campagnolo Record cranks on a Phil Wood bottom bracket - the chainstays are spaced for bigger tyres and mudguards and the Record BB is too narrow.
Sturmey Archer hubs and freewheel on HplusSon Archetype rims
Velo Orange "medium" drop brakes, Nitto "Noodle" bars, "Pearl" stem and "Crystal" seatpost, and my longstanding Ti Brooks Swallow

Single-speed "to get it up and running", though it's been almost a year since I collected the frame.

Medium-term plan: early 00's Campag groupset.
    Short-term plan: fixed brakless risers
