  • Does the above mean that there maybe a an actual fixed contingent from LFGSS at PBP this year?
    @hollow__legs
    @youramericanlover
    @Daithetooth
    ?

  • I did it as my PBP qualifier in 2015 (not fixed/fuck off). Justin Jones rode it fixed.
    It was/is everything it says it is. Still probably the hardest 600 I've done.

  • Oof thats really nice

  • After enjoying my first fixed 600 last year, it has crossed my mind, but will see how the qualifiers go before deciding whether it's on the acceptable side of stupid.

  • I am not (currently) interested in PBP but thanks for the mention. PBP seems far and hard.

    I have the Dawntsy Dawdle lined up for my 400 which is a BRM / PBP thingy so @hollow__legs if you wanted a fixed buddy for the loop I'd be down. Looks bumpy but reasonable and is basically london-based so straightforward to get to. As I'm in east Kent it's the most logistically reasonable 400 one for me. Similarly Wander Wye.

    Cheers @TheBonk Maybe I'll look to the Pendle as a two day de-luxe tour on gears later in the summer. It seems dumb to go all the that way and then just walk up Rosedale, Wynatts, Wrynose etc climbs. It looks SO GOOD

  • Dawntsy Dawdle

    Had that on my todo list for a long while. Always seems to clash.

    EDIT: Ah, yes, yet again I have another event penciled in for that week.

  • George lives just south of Dundee.

    In the silvery Tay?

  • I rode Pendle in 2015 on fixed as well, it was brutal, leaving every single control out of time and finishing minutes before the cutoff with zero sleep. Managed to take just one photo early on, before Justin & I walked down Rosedale (as someone had crashed the year before?). These days I would say it's on the unacceptable side of stupid but that probably encompasses most rides I've ever done.

  • Chapeau for doing that fixed. Were you both fixed? I think I can see a Dolan FXE in your photo, but the other bike?

    I don’t think I’d give it a go.

  • Thanks for the offer of riding together! My girlfriend and I are planning on doing PBP and all the qualifiers together so I’ll see how she feels about travelling down from Edinburgh for an audax.

    To be honest, I’ve not done much riding in England (and my girlfriend practically none) apart from when I lived in London, so the thought of doing some longer rides down south is quite appealing.

  • Yes, Justin on his custom Rourke for something like his 4th Pendle on fixed. I managed one (on the FXE).

  • Holy shit. Incredible ride seriously

  • Haha nutterz

  • Wild.

    Speaking of custom fixed gear Rourkes, has anyone ever met Shaun Hargreaves? He has a red fixed gear Rourke and has been at the top of the fixed wheel leaderboards for the last few years.

    I only ask as he’s somewhat my poster boy for fixed miles this year… blushes

  • Yes, several times on rides, he's a top bloke. Keep meaning to go and ride his events especially as he's made the effort to come down to London to ride mine & Justin's - will put these in the calendar for next year now I think of it. Oh, and cross out Bristol-Glasgow-Bristol whilst the memories of Pendle are fresh!

  • How is Justin nowadays?

  • Last I heard the cancer has completely gone and should hopefully be back on his bike next year which is fantastic news, even if he'll probably be on gears

  • That's wonderful news!

    I remember doing the KSW about 10 years ago when he was riding it fixed. That was hard enough but Pendle I cannot imagine

  • I've met him a few times but he was on a Pompino I think. Nice guy. He took over Venetian Nights from John Perrin and did a top job of matching the catering. Pretty sure there were vegan oatcakes being cooked up. Had planned to ride that again this year but things didnt work out.

  • Jesus just looked up the route... More than 10.000 meters of climbing!

  • Venetian Nights not showing up in the calendar yet for next year (not even the unpublished organisers one), but going to pencil it in mine for the penultimate weekend in September based on this & last year.

  • Fixed gear forum >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>*

    *fuck

  • Yes all this fixed gear talk makes me happy and it's in one of the threads I least expected it

  • +1
    Pro tip is just follow yal around, whenever he's not talking about fixed someone seems to bring it up for him just cos he's there
