If you look at their instruction manual, it shows the wave washer inside the non drive side bb cup behind the bearing.

As tester said already the spindle is captured on the non drive side so I'm not sure it's such a good idea to have the non drive side bearing "floating" inside the cup. I can't really wrap my head around what they are/were thinking with that design.
Yes, apparently a running change as there were reports of bearing movement inside NDS cup. German engineering, eh?
