Are they really that bad?
Opinion varies. They look white in photographs, which some people find offensive, but in real life they're not that bad, and who's looking at your chain on a winter bike? This is a Wippermann 1Z1, the KMC RB chains look the same colour because Zinc is Zinc. The KMC EPT chains look different and a bit darker, but I have never been offended by the galvanised chains so I haven't tested one to see if they perform as well. KMC claims that the EPT coating is even better than RB (galvanised). A KMC Z1 Wide EPT is otherwise almost the same as a S1 RB, slightly deprecated compared with the bushed B1 and Wippermann 1Z1 but still perfectly usable.
