That's kinda the point though. It's not about who said something (which is why the quotes are unattributed) so quoting out of context is completely fair game, but more the point that "I don't think I could drop £5,000 on a Seiko" is absolutely just as Golf Club as "I could drop £5,000 on a Seiko".
If you're even considering spending that kind of money on a watch then it's firmly in GC territory.
