  • Well the ride to work this morning was erm? Eventful, yeah that’s the word, eventful. I’m riding along chatting to Liz and all of a sudden my saddle got a little bit more springy. So I sort of had a bit of a wiggle on it and oh for fuck sake! The top fell off and into the road. Which was nice. I picked it up and put it in my pocket and then continued the ride in on just the rails. Which I must say wasn’t anywhere near as uncomfortable as you would imagine. Anyway having a look at work the nose had snapped meaning the ends of the rails walked out of their pockets. So I taped it up best I could for the ride home.
I’ve now got a brooks B15 Swallow in place and it’ll do until a C15 comes up for cheaps.

  • Nightmare!

This may sound a bit odd but if you kept the rail and don't need it for anything...could I have it?
I broke a rail on my favourite Spoon years ago and have always wanted to replace it but haven't found a way of doing it yet.

  • Of course fella I’ll grab it out of the bin (shed floor) when I get in. Then we’ll sort out dropping it off.

  • I went for another ride on the beach today. 1.5 miles of just above the waterline fun, I would have carried on around the head land and on for another 4 miles to the next place with a chippy. But the feds asked me you leave :( boo to the man! Oh it’s because there are 5000 seals along the next stretch how cool!!!
Anyway coastal erosion, seals, closed down pubs, chips, out of season holiday parks and California Cliffs.
90miles of solo exploring, a fabulous day was had. Sure beats being at work!
The Midnight Special is earning its keep.

  • I was hoping no one caught me laying on the beach that day. Damn.

    Bike and ride looks great.

  • I thought he was waving at me.

  • Winter is so dull and boring, so I added a bit of Supacaz snaz to the Standert. Now would neon tape be too much? Hella no!

  • Nice! It does look like it can use some new tape haha

  • Now you need neon pink bar tape and a neon yellow rear mech cable loop

  • Oh yes, it’s looking a bit shit to say the least.

  • Ooh! Now I like that!

  • Neon pink on the left side of the drops, neon orange on the right...

  • Maybe a step too far

  • pink rubino tyres

  • I dragged this out of the shed today. I think I’ll sort the brakes out and use it for work.

  • I’m aiming for a slightly subtler loud.

    (Googles pink tyres)

  • Like that, think a white bidon would set off that fluro cage better and +1 for pink tape

  • The Pest has gone all upright for the snow.

  • I’ve got a white one somewhere, I’ll have to give it a look.

  • I’ve been thinking again, this is never a good thing.
I’ve now got a very nice allroad/gravel/touring/adventure bike in the Midnight Special, so have no real need for the Sequoia. So it’s possibly going to be my shopper/back lane commuter bike.
    But it needs new brakes
    so, options

    Fit

    1. New calipers

    Or
    .

    1. Cheap as shit clarke clouts (with flat to post adapters)
    2. SRAM NX eagle shifter, mech and cassette
    3. Mollywawk bars

    Or

    1. Micro bar end shifter
    2. 105 spec caliper
    3. Mt200 flat bar lever
    4. Mollywawk bars

    Or

Put it back in the shed for another day?
