I'm guessing my first (chemical) association of sodium lauryl sulphate is wide of the mark?

  • Stereo lithography something.
    System?

  • Selective laser sintering;

Hmm, mince pies and lasers: what could possibly go wrong?

  • That's the one. Big box of pastry crumb and a laser to zap it together into pie cases.

  • Are the three of us going to set up the Kickstarter?

  • totally spot on review dude. cheers.

i need to get back to a Greggs pronto.

  • Had a nice tesco one my sister bought at the weekend. Comfortable 8/10.

  • Tried to pop into Borough Konditor to buy some mincers on Saturday but it appears to have gone.

  • It went a couple of years ago, but they did have a stall in Borough Market last year.
    Rents, I guess.

  • I think they have a new store in Waterloo...just didn't have time to pop down the road. Soon.

  • Indeed they do. But it's not new. Been there since at least 2008 according to Streetview

  • Home made batch … 10/10 obviously … 😉

  • Late starter this year, but got my season underway with a couple of the Waitrose Heston 'twist of lemon' numbers. RRP is steep, but I got them reduced from the garage round the corner for £1.40 a 4 deck.

As usual with this Heston stuff, they're not really mince pies, but consumed mid drizzly but pleasant wander round Richmond Park they hit the spot. The 'pastry' base is nearer spiced biscuit, while the topping is some crumble type affair, but the filling was tangy and rich while the lemon notes helped balance things out. 7/10. Would like to try hot with some cream.

  • Made the first batch at home yesterday. Waitrose mincemeat from last year, Nadia Hussein's pastry recipe and a dollop of M&S brandy butter inside. Can't really go wrong other than some leakage because I haven't worked out how to seal the lid down to the base.

  • Local 'golf club' mincers
Pretty good, but $3nzd each is a bit steep

  • 12 Konditor pies costs TWENTY QUID this year.. ooft.

  • Three days until this party really gets started.

  • Had one of the M&S bakery mincers as my first of the season this weekend. Very good.

  • 50 min wait at Ipswich station

Please accept my apologies, no-one deserves that.

  • Lidl Deluxe. Meh. Bit stingy on the filling and the pastry is underdone and cloying. 4/10

  • The OH picked up some mincers from Aldi, but being someone that doesn’t like a mincer, picked up some Aldi 'Mini' mincers because they ‘looked cute’.

It was fine, bit underbaked, and ratio pastry/filling waay off. If I wanted that much pastry I’d just have a biscuit. Will pick up a deck of proper ones later.
