I've ordered samples of copper, brass and steel... figured I would see how they are to work with and how stiff and resistant to cats they may be. Only about £4 per 15cm square sample, so going to be easy enough to see what works.
My concern with steel is working with it. I'm hoping tin snips are enough and it doesn't need an angle grinder and can be moulded to the shape easily.

I think cats will relish and overcome that challenge. 304 stainless steel is about 10 times as strong.
