Rough value for a CAAD9 frameset? I had thought condition on mine was an 8/10 but on strip down and closer inspection it's more like a 7 (IMO). The dent is barely noticeable but it's still a ding. Honest appraisal or sensible offers welcomed

Is there any way you can fit mudguards in this?

@hughgo asked for some pix of a crankset of mine but he hasn't showed up to take a look. Anybody else interested?

That 10 arm spidering is worth a few quid, even in the old school 53/39.

Yes it's a lovely piece of kit. Perhaps I should just hang it on the wall?

further to my post up there... here's the serial number, which according to the online guides makes this a criterium frame from early '88, size 50.
That aside, anyone interested in this? I'm mulling building something out of it and just began stripping the paint as I think it would look lovely in bare alu... but I'm not sure I can be bothered to see it through. PM me for pics if so, ta!

New bike day! Pretty much the bike I’ve always wanted, a supersix with clearance for chunky tyres

First ride on my freshly lightened 2019 SSE. 5.85kg right now, to think it was 8.65kg new with the Shimano 105 groupset and Askiums. This bike is now a world away from its humble beginnings 😉

rate anyone riding tubs on the road 💕

That’s silly light. Doesn’t look too weight weenie either, great work.

@samrensho yeah a prestretched tub in the back pocket isn't any trouble. Oh and the ride is just sublime....
@greeno cheers. Next/final stage would be Darimo bars, stem and post for another 250g. SSE HM frame and forks for another 250g, the temptation is strong..... but I really love it right now. -

Tubs are made of the same materials as clinchers, and puncture about as frequently, so it's not problem assuming you carry a spare. Fitting (and repair) are ofc much more labour-intensive, but the ride and handling make it worthwhile

@shawnb Yes! I agree I think it is the best.
@HarmanMogul Oh I totally agree - I used to ride road tubs at 140 psi to the track, about 20 minutes each way, and they were always more comfortable and fast than any expensive clincher I've even ridden. And never had a puncture!
If it wasn't clear - I think riding tubs is the best and anyone who does is a propa rida

Finally joined the ranks here, found a time warp Saeco CAAD 3 on Facebook Marketplace and bought it this morning, nice start to the week! Coda hubs and QRs on Mavic rims, original stem and a wild Bertone Design saddle! Plans are... hang fire and come up with a masterplan, although SRAM Red 22 keeps coming to mind. However, part of me would like to clean it, swap for some trad drop bars and ride it (in spring!)

Wow that looks like it's new!
Rad saddle too -

Yeah chap I bought it from had it hung up for ages, there's a little ding on the TT but no flaky paint, bubbling or whatever, quite the survivor. Chainset has been changed for a newer Shimano model. 7700 Dura Ace is period correct (I think) so maybe I'll slowly upgrade parts. As much as carbon wheels and MGOOF is awesome, it would be a shame to break up the original parts.

Out of curiosity what would be a good price for a good condition caad5? Was just having a browse online and can see prices varying
(2012 caadx is a 31.8 seatpost, don’t know 2013)
