It helps reduce stiction. Tight dust seals is certainly a thing but its usually poorly looked after forks that lead to shitty feeling forks.
My forks feel perfectly fine after a fresh service since the foam rings have been freshly soaked in oil. But after a few weeks of riding, using something like the ext lube on the stanchions helps keep them feeling fresh.
Why am I immediately thinking of OFC Monster hifi cables...
I'm quite a cynical person and love to dismiss snake-oil pish but lubing fork stanchions is nothing new!
I do wonder if lower leg fork oil spec is snake oil. My pikes are overdue a service and I think I'll be using the 0-30 car oil that's lurking in the garage.
