  • Any idea why there would be 3 extra wires between battery and controller? The rest all makes sense but i don't get what this does? Controller is a bafang CR S10D.350.SN but still cant find a wiring diagram to explain what these are.

  • Maybe? im at a loss and thinking of just buying a new controller.

  • @freezing77 thanks, where is this diagram from? im a bit confused as it does not seem to match the rest of the loom.

  • Are they brake lever cut out wires?

  • There is nothing wired into the brakes, just standard Shimano hydraulics no sensors or anything. If they are just sensor wires i can ignore all good but really unclear.

  • Just ordered a Swytch kit I preordered a few months ago. Got the 700c front wheel. Now to decide what bike to build for it.

  • How much did it cost you for the full kit if you don’t mind me asking?

  • Get a steel fork for your bike, something designed for nutted axle. Seen quite a few cracked alloy dropouts on deliveroo/uber bikes that folks have put conversions on now (extreme use though, these guys do 40-70 miles a day 7 days a week).

  • Getting an error message and i think it is my display cable, anyone know if i can buy an adapter cable like this or just need to make a new one?

  • £400 was the preorder price

  • Thanks. Yes, I avoid aluminium/titanium anyway as someone who has studied materials science. Steel has a virtually infinite capacity for stress cycles but aluminium/titanium don't and after a few million flexes can suddenly snap/crack!

  • Good price! Make sure you report back, I’d like to see the end result.

  • Are those the 2 ends of the same display cable?

  • Yep, seems to be an adapter?. It was poorly repaired when i got the bike. Ow im assuming its a poorly made adapter

  • I'm not massively experienced with Bafang stuff but haven't seen a higo connector with those 2 different ends on them. Also couldn't find anything with a little searching, but did see a site that does custom orders. I'd bet a replacement exists somewhere already though. Good luck with it

  • Has anyone swapped a chainring on Shimano e-bike cranks (FC-E8050)? Seems you need either:

    Park Tool LRT-2
    Shimano TL-FC39

Which are £30-50. Being tight, I was looking for a cheaper alternative. There's a Lifeline tool gets slated for being too chunky - but that might just be with aftermarket chainrings.

    Does anyone have experience?

  • My wife's ebike battery has died, and I'm being quoted £300+ to recell it, whereas it's about £210 to buy the exact same one from AliExpress. Is that about usual, cost wise, to replace some 18650 batteries?

Does not seem unreasonable seeing how much spot welding and equipent is needed, not all 18650 batteries are equal.

  • Ok, good to know. I've messaged a fair few places, but anyone got any recommendations of places they've used?

  • Anyone else noticed a drop in range with the colder weather? I've gone from 24 miles (on Turbo) to 20 now on a full charge. Didn't use it for two weeks so went from 17 / 18 degree weather to 5 or 6 and the change is immediate so isn't any battery degradation.

  • That sounds normal, best practice would be to store your battery inside overnight so it's warm going into the bike.

  • Are Swytch kits UK legal? The website doesn't seem to say but it looks like it's a pedal assist system so it may well be.

  • They think so.

Selecting the Swytch Kit to convert your bicycle will see you safely staying on the right side of the law.

  • I don't know about that, they are selling a throttle now and advising against it's use on the road!
