I think those Wilfa grinders' buttons/timers are generally a bit fucked cos mine does similar things - sometimes it will stop after a few seconds of grinding and I have to press it again, and sometimes it'll go on for longer than I expect so I have to press it to stop.
Mine also doesn't really adjust grind sizes much at all; I couldn't be bothered to get it replaced because I only ever make pour over at home and the size it happens to produce is good for that, but it's occasionally annoying if I want to grind for cafetiere so I can take a supply with me to visit my mum. I also can't 100% rule out that my wife didn't break it as she took it upon herself to open the package and put it together when it originally got delivered and I was at the office. She's not a klutz or anything but I would've preferred to do it myself.
