  • I picked up a used one off the forum in the summer - has been flawless till the last couple of weeks.

Now, the grind button is very temperamental. If you press it and hold it, it normally works. If you just press and release it will grind for a bit, then stop randomly. If you then leave it, it turns on and off randomly - occasionally just grinding for a few seconds at a time. Wife and daughter now think it is possessed by a coffee devil.

I don't have the time to investigate, but at present i've resorted to just turning on and off at the mains and grinding by holding the button down. My current diagnosis is the switch is borked. You seem to need some weird security screwdriver to get in - I imagine what's inside is a mess of circuit boards and mad wiring anyway - so not massively keen to go digging.

Anyone know how diy-able these things are?

  • So after a bit of research and testing it seems the motor is fairly weak in those machines. I've had mine for 3+ years grinding twice daily from filter to Aeropress and definitely struggles more with grinding finer.

Someone on YT or Reddit suggested starting to grind then throwing the beans in which seems to have work this morning as it managed to do my full dose without stopping. Will try and keep using as is and get an ODE 2 when the Wilfa fully conks out.
