Have I finished my fairlight? No. Is it now winter in Toronto? Yes. Did I just buy another frame? Yes.
Picked up Bridgestone RB-2 frameset for a song. Have a mixed Shimano 600 groupset to go on it once the wheels are built.
The problem? Someone took some sand paper or something to random parts of the frame, through all the paint. Exposed metal needs tidying up. Any tips out there for best approach? I’m thinking derust (not sure best approach) and clear coat.

I would remove the rust with sandpaper and clear coat it.

remove the rust with sandpaper
Sandpaper won't get into any pits, and removes good metal as well as rust. I'd go wire wool first to clear heavy and loose rust, then a chemical process such as Evaporust to eliminate anything well attached or hiding in a hole.

Finally cobbled this together. Saddle needs to be higher and flatter, headset needs a service and I need to summon the energy to slap some mudguards on. Felt good on a quick punt down the street though.

Looking great. Disc setup worth the effort for fixed riding?
-

Probably not! The forks were a forum bargain and the brake set up was an eBay bargain so didn't cost any more than a rim brake alternative though. I just like discs these days and am still enjoying learning how to work on them as well. Can't wait to go over the handlebars.

Doesn’t seem to be any heavy or loose so I’ll grab some evaporust type stuff. Thanks for the tip.

Latest iteration of my Kaffenback. Needs a longer stem I think.

That looks like a lot of fun!
Those 4-pot maguras are real nice imo. Plenty of power on our cargo bike. -
