Any animators who do their own illustrations? Got a project that would suit kind of fun, hand-drawn-looking stuff.
Similarly if you know of anyone etc.

PM'd you a friend's website

Any experienced after effects editors around today for ongoing support over the next month for a game client? It's not my project but I've had to drop out of it so will connect you with the agency.

I use shootfactory from time to time but they don't have much outside of London.
Looking for a space to film for 15 days in November.
We used this place last time which was good visually but tricky location for crew: https://goo.gl/maps/y47cvs32T3LCHsLH9
Looking now for somewhere between Reading/Oxford-ish - maybe towards Milton Keynes.
Need to record sound but we managed it in the place above so as long as it's not next to a motorway I'm sure we can manage echoey acoustics.

Also, same project, so the work would likely start late November/December, I'm looking for a motion designer to do some bits like come up with templates for:
titles
text
infographics
transitions etcWe'd want to receive something built without any plugins etc in AE or, preferably, in Fusion.
If you can illustrate all the better as there may be some artwork to come up with. Will likely be a 3 more projects like it over the next 12 months.

Guessing this is the place to ask -
Am looking to extend my After Effects skills - I currently do a lot of short animated social media promo type stuff in AE and Premiere (mostly for book publishers), but I could do with getting some more lucrative work - what are the most useful/marketable AE skills to have?
It's a program I've basically taught myself so I can do some things really well, but there are gaps in my knowledge and I want to sit down and work through a load of tutorials and would be interested in any opinions on what's best for picking up freelance work (ideally from home). -

Most of the stuff I see advertised is for really good text and really inventive shape and mask movement. So basic stuff, but done to a high standard. Do you have a site/reel? I'm on a hunt for some animation support (text/infographic stuff).

There's plenty of need for beauty retouchers for TV and online content if you fancy that sort of thing? Not the most exciting work in the world but decently paid and if you get in with agencies you'll always have work.

I did see your post earlier which was one of the things that made me think I shold ask here- no, my website has been 'coming soon' for about two years now... mostly because actual work kept geting in the way.
I do badly need to get together a decent portfolio site, but currently most of what I've done is focused on animation to promote children's books (plus also leans towards instagram post type stuff which very tight turn-arounds, which doesn't show that much skill). Which I suspect isn't really what you're looking for. That said I'll pm you a few links to things I've done in case you think my skills are adaptable to what you need.plenty of need for beauty retouchers
Would be totally up for non-exciting work at the moment - in an ideal world I'd carry on doing some of the more creative child-oriented work but subsidise it with boring well paid stuff... What does beauty retouching actually involve? Is that like a lot of content-aware fill stuff in AE? Can definitely do that kind of thing if you know of any ways in. If it's more like grading that's never been my strong point.
(and thanks both, appreciate the advice)

Beauty retouching for video is basically like stills retouching, getting rid of imperfections in skin, removing stray hairs, red veins from eyes etc. There's also set extensions and a surprising amount of compositing stuff as well.
For the beauty stuff it's basically adjustment layers, masking, blurs or dust and scratches. I'm pretty sure there's a load of youtube vids on it. I'm an video editor not an AE artist but I use AE a fair bit and even I can do a lot of it, but if you get good (especially at trickier stuff like hair) you'll always get work, one of my biggest clients does a shit ton of beauty and fashion ads, they retouch everything and are in constant need of freelancers.

Ugh, big big job just cancelled (or postponed to January which is basically the scaredy cats way of saying it's cancelled). So now am free this month and November if anyone needs anything shot or edited.
Happy to crew - can AC, gaff-ish, shoot, direct, produce, edit, provide kit etc between London, Bristol and Truro on a day rate or can go further with travel days/accom.

Thank you - that all sounds like stuff I can learn to do (or do already). If I go away and do some learning/practising/come up with work samples, would you be willing to give me your client's contact details?
-
• #341
Yeah no worries, just message me whenever you want and I'll send you the post producers details.

• #342
Thank you - appreciate it.

God I wish I didn't always say yes to everything

Oh thank fuck for that, I posted that^ in a horrible TV job moment.
Now I’ve been sacked! Yay. Think it’s time for a couple of weeks off.

Sotheby's hiring an in-house self shooting producer/editor - 6 month contract. Prob quite a nice gig if you're London based.
-
• #346
Bet the pay is dog shit.
-
• #347
Why? I've had some editing stuff from them and it's been very good rates.
-
• #348
I'd imagine for day rate gigs they probably pay well but the job description reads like a lot of internal positions that want everything and offer less than 30k a year.
Hope I'm wrong, It's not my world anyway, but being an in-house editor these days is pretty depressing for the most part.

Looking to pick up a white balance card over the weekend, anyone got a favourite gear shop? CineGearPro doesn't seem to sell them.

Need some extras in High Wycombe on Monday 16th, Tues 17th and Thurs 19th. 1 on Monday, 2 x Tuesday and Thursday.
Where's a good place to look these days?
That time of year again, had too much work on over June/July so didn't search for future projects, now the work is dragging and I haven't got any bookings until late September and haven't even signed off the last stuff because clients fuck off for holidays and don't mention it in advance so I find out via auto-reply.
Anyone got any editing I can do to keep myself busy for a couple of weeks? Would shoot or gaff too if needed. Can supply kit etc.
