I used three pairs of spd shoes last week on rotation .
If you wear normal socks for the commute in and keep waterproof socks in the bike bag for the return leg home you can wear the wet shoes with none of the squishy unpleasantness. Then you can dry fully at home. Although some newspaper and a radiator had my wet shoes in a reasonable state for the ride home.
Also bought in a spare set of bibs and overtights.
Buy a blow heater to dry the stuff out in work . At this time of year commuters need to be ingenious in drying their stuff not cooking it and not coming out in boils by Wednesday . I used three pairs of spd shoes last week on rotation .
